3GSM World Congress, BARCELONA, Spain, February 12, 2007 - Bluestreak Technology, Inc., the developer of the award-winning MachBlue™ platform for mobile phones and digital television, announced today that MachBlue Mobile will be commercially available for J2ME-compatible mobile phones.
MachBlue Mobile, which enhances the mobile user experience with rich-media graphics and extended device functionality, is now available on Java Virtual Machine-enabled phones. Leading operators such as Orange use MachBlue to create and deploy rich-media applications—such as mobile TV/video/EPG services—across an ever-wider range of supported devices including Symbian Series 60, Symbian UIQ, Windows Mobile 2005, Linux, and now J2ME. OEMs and content providers also rely on MachBlue to make their products easier and more convenient to use, resulting in increased adoption of video streaming.
“With MachBlue, you can develop an application once and then deploy to multiple devices and operating systems, in a fraction of the time needed with other technologies,” noted Bluestreak CEO Paul Forostowsky. “Bluestreak is already recognized as the leader in bringing rich-media content and services to mobile phones, and by adding J2ME support to our solution we are continuing to expand our competitive lead. Our customers are delighted; never before have they had the opportunity to bring such impressive graphics and mobile interactivity to their Java devices.”
"Sony Ericsson is pleased to work with Bluestreak in partnership with one of the major European operators. Sony Ericsson's state-of-the-art Java platform, in combination with Bluestreak's MachBlue, will bring rich-media content and an engaging user experience to an even broader market," said Herve Fontaine, Sony Ericsson Vice President, Global Customer Unit France Telecom Orange.
This new evolution of the MachBlue platform comes on the heels of intense commercial activity for the company. Over the past few months, Bluestreak has signed numerous deals establishing MachBlue as the go-to platform for the development of rich-media applications on mobile phones and digital TV devices. To support its growing list of clients and to confirm its market leadership in Europe and Asia, the company has recently opened offices in Paris and Hong Kong.
